Winter Funk


                                                                 


Yes, dear readers I have been in a winter funk. I haven’t really wanted to do anything. Honestly, I really haven’t wanted to leave my warm bed each day, let alone write. It has been cold. I have to bundle up in layers to stay warm. There is snow on the ground and I am tired of the sight of it. I know I shouldn’t complain. I don’t live in one of the areas where they have seen 100 inches of snow or even close to it. Yet, it is our human nature to complain.                                                         

So what can I do to get over this winter funk? I can dream about spring.  Dreaming about spring reminds me of some of my favorite things: dresses, sandals, flowing skirts, and tank tops. All of these wonderful fashion looks also means one thing, we all need to get our skin spring and summer ready. It is one way to break out of the winter funk.

                                                              

This means we can spend some of these gloomy days pampering ourselves with facials, pedicures, and long soaks in the bath followed up with lathering our bodies with our favorite lotions.

I have also decided to try to add some foods to my diet that can help make my skin look spring and summer ready. Did you know that sunflower seeds can help moisturize our skin? It can also help prevent wrinkles and help prevent hair loss, as well as promote hair growth. I would love for my hair to become a bit thicker? Maybe a handful of sunflower seeds a day could help this? I do love the taste of them in salads and they may be good with some wraps, too, especially chicken.

The reason they are so beneficial is because they are rich in Vitamins E and B. They are also rich in protein, selenium, and copper.

They aren’t fattening, as long as you don’t go overboard in eating them. The recommendation is that you eat about an ounce of the little seeds a day. This amounts to amount 165 calories. Plus, some experts believe that this amount can also help you lose belly fat. I am not sure that this is completely fact. But I do know that they are tasty and that they do have some healthy, as well as beauty benefits. For this reason, I will begin to eat more of these as I try to beat this winter funk.
